Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Mix the Dry Ingredients

Sift the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder and salt. Stir until the dry ingredients are evenly combined.

Tip: Sifting the cocoa powder ensures a lump-free and smooth batter.
  1. Combine the Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk the buttermilk, egg, melted butter, vanilla extract and red food coloring until fully incorporated.

Tip: Adjust the amount of food coloring for a deeper or lighter red shade.
  1. Prepare the Batter

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring gently until combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the pancakes tender and fluffy.

Tip: If the batter feels too thick, add a splash of buttermilk to reach the desired consistency.
  1. Preheat the Skillet

Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease with butter or cooking spray.

Tip: Use a griddle for cooking multiple pancakes at once to save time.
  1. Cook the Pancakes

Pour ¼ cup of batter onto the skillet for each pancake. Cook for 2-3 minutes until bubbles form on the surface and the edges are set. Flip the pancakes and cook for 1-2 minutes until the underside is cooked and slightly crisp.

Tip: Keep cooked pancakes warm in a low-temperature oven while finishing the batch.
  1. Add Toppings and Serve

Stack the pancakes on a plate and drizzle with cream cheese glaze, sprinkle with powdered sugar or garnish with fresh berries, as desired.

Tip: Serve immediately for the best flavor and a vibrant presentation.
