Description
BBQ Bacon-wrapped Jalapeno Poppers are a smoky, cheesy appetizer featuring jalapeños filled with cream cheese and cheddar, brushed with BBQ sauce and grilled.
Ingredients
Instructions
PREPARE THE JALAPEÑOS
Wash the jalapeños under cold running water. Slice each jalapeño lengthwise and use a small spoon to carefully scoop out the seeds and membranes. Place the halved jalapeños on a clean plate.
Tip: Wear gloves while handling jalapeños to avoid skin irritation and wash your hands thoroughly afterward.
MAKE THE CHEESE FILLING
Combine the cream cheese and shredded cheddar cheese. Mix thoroughly with a spoon until smooth and evenly combined. Scoop a generous teaspoon of the cheese mixture and fill each jalapeño half, pressing gently to ensure it stays in place.
Tip: Let the cream cheese soften at room temperature for easier mixing.
WRAP THE JALAPEÑOS WITH BACON
Cut the bacon slices in half. Take one half-slice of bacon and wrap it tightly around a stuffed jalapeño, starting from one end and overlapping slightly as you go. Secure the bacon with a toothpick if needed and place the wrapped jalapeño on a tray. Repeat for all jalapeños.
Tip: Use thin-cut bacon for quicker cooking and crisper results.
BRUSHING WITH BBQ SAUCE
Using a basting brush, lightly coat each bacon-wrapped jalapeño with BBQ sauce. Turn them to ensure all sides are evenly coated. Reserve some BBQ sauce for brushing during cooking.
Tip: Choose a smoky or slightly spicy BBQ sauce to complement the jalapeño flavor.
COOK THE POPPERS
Preheat your grill to medium heat or set your oven to 200°C. Place the poppers directly on the grill grates or a lined baking sheet. Cook for 15–20 minutes, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking. The bacon should be crisp and the jalapeños tender. Brush additional BBQ sauce on the poppers during the last 5 minutes of cooking.
Tip: If grilling, use indirect heat to prevent flare-ups from the bacon grease.
SERVE AND ENJOY
Carefully remove the poppers from the grill or oven and let them rest for 2–3 minutes. Arrange them on a serving platter and serve hot. Pair with a dipping sauce or garnish with fresh herbs for added flavor.
Tip: These are best enjoyed fresh and warm, but leftovers can be reheated in an oven or air fryer for a crisp finish.See Also Exceptional Recipes:
